Dr. Hussein Basal, from the Faculty of Science, won the gold medal at the International Exhibition of Inventions/Croatia ARCA 2025, which was held in Zagreb between 16-18 October 2025, with the participation of more than 500 health and technology innovations from 40 countries.
Dr. Bassal presented an innovation related to “discovering the therapeutic properties of winged beans” in the field of biomedicine and plant extracts, which was patented by the Lebanese Ministry of Economy & Trade in 2021.
Lebanon was represented at the exhibition by the President of the National Council for Science & Research and Director of the Middle East Office of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA), Mr. Radwan Chouaib, who presented the Lebanese projects to the jury and discussed opportunities for their development.
