The Language and Translation Center (LTC) of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences (FLHS) celebrated Italian Language Week in the presence of the director of the Italian Cultural Center in Beirut, Mr. Angelo Gioè, journalist and novelist Mr. Hassan Daoud, the center’s director, Dr. Layal Merhi, and a group of professors and students.
The day featured a discussion on the Arabic translation of Italian writer Andrea Camilleri’s novel “The Shape of Water.” Students from the Italian department gave a presentation on the author’s style and characteristics and read excerpts from the novel and their translation.
On this occasion, the director of the Italian Cultural Center donated a series of educational books in Italian to support the center’s library and academic resources.
