The Sports Activity Department at the Lebanese University organizes the Independence Chess tournament virtually via ZOOM, with the participation of teams from the Lebanese University, the American University of Beirut (AUB), the Lebanese American University (LAU) and Beirut Arab University (BAU).
The tournament, which will take place at seven o’clock on Friday, 27 November 2020, will be supervised by Elias Khairallah, Officer of the game and sports activity in Branches 2 and international referee.
It is noteworthy that the Lebanese University team won over the Ukrainian team of Lviv State University of Physical Culture scoring of 98 – 95, after advancing in the last minutes of the rounds held virtually.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the inability to hold in presence meetings, the Lebanese University team was keen to engage in remote activity meetings and won three of them against the AUB, Saint Joseph University (USJ) and Notre Dame University–Louaize (NDU).
