Under the patronage of President Michel Suleiman, the President of the Lebanese University, Dr. Zuhair Shokr, and the President of the International Conference of French-Speaking Deans and Directors of Scientific and Technological Institutions (CIRUISEF), Evelyne Garnier-Zarli, attended the opening of the conference “Scientific Research Structure: Fragmentation or Integration,” which is being held for the first time in Lebanon at 9:30 am on Monday, August 8, at the Rafik Hariri University Campus in Hadath.
In addition to the university president, Dr. Shokr, and the conference chair, Zarli, the opening session will be attended by the Minister of Education & Higher Education, Dr. Hassan Mneimneh, the Vice President of the AUF (Bonaventure MVE-ONDO), and the Dean of the Faculty of Science at the Lebanese University, Dr. Ali Mneimneh.
The conference is organized by the Faculty of Science and the Doctoral School of Science & Technology in collaboration with CIRUISEF. Participants from Lebanon include deans of scientific faculties and researchers from the Lebanese University, deans and representatives from USJ and USEK, and the Secretary General of the National Council for Scientific Research, in addition to representatives from the French Embassy, the AUF, and approximately 200 deans and academic researchers.
The conference aims to discuss the reality of scientific research in various countries within the Francophone community, particularly the disparities in scientific and research performance between countries in the South and North, and to propose various forms of research structures with a view to adopting the best possible strategy for linking scientific research with the economic community in order to better address economic and social problems in Francophone countries and exchange experiences on information and communication systems, the environment, natural resources, public health, energy and mineral resources.
The conference will continue from Monday 8 to Friday 12, concluding with a session on scientific and practical recommendations for the development of action plans.
