Lebanese University

In response to campaigns targeting the Lebanese University and its status as a national university, especially after it topped local and international academic rankings, and to clarify the misinformation spread by some media outlets claiming that all successful candidates in the Faculty of Science/M2 – specializing in “Microwave” belong to the same sect and that the exam questions were leaked to them, the Media Office of the Presidency would like to clarify the following:

First: All master’s programs in the Faculty of Science are subject to a precise and unified process based on:

– Evaluation of the student’s academic file by studying their BA degree grades and academic record.

– Oral interview to assess their academic and personal competence.

Therefore, no written exams are conducted at this stage, which makes talk of leaked questions illogical and contrary to reality.

Second: Figures & Facts

– This year, approximately 1,400 students applied to enroll in M2, with applications distributed across approximately 55 non-duplicated master’s programs in various fields.

– The programs are available at three main university campuses: Hadath, Fanar, and North Lebanon.

– All programs are supervised by the Deanship of the Faculty of Science, which applies uniform academic standards to ensure equal opportunities.

Third: Justice & Equal Opportunities

– The Lebanese University is committed to ensuring the principles of justice and transparency for all students from different regions and backgrounds, and it relies solely on academic merit as criteria for admission.

– Allegations of favoritism or sectarian bias are nothing more than attempts to tarnish the university’s image and undermine its credibility. The reality is that some majors, such as microwave engineering – are often limited to students from a specific geographical area, which explains the uniform sectarian affiliation of the majority of applicants, a fact that has no bearing on the admission process or academic evaluation.

Fourth: A message to the public

We affirm that the Lebanese University, as the national mother university, will remain committed to the strict scientific standards that have made its programs a model to be emulated. We urge the media to exercise accuracy before publishing news that may affect a national academic institution with its prestige and history.
