The requirements for students to register in the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences for the academic year 2021-2022, for the master’s degree (with the exception of students of the Department of Psychology) are as follows:
- Graduates of the FLHS (same major) (with the exception of students of the Department of Psychology):
- Students of the new system (B.M.D.) or the old system (4 years) wishing to obtain a research master’s degree, shall be holders of a bachelor’s degree in the same major with an average of 12/20;
- Students of the new system (B.M.D.) or the old system (4 years) wishing to obtain a professional master’s degree, shall be holders of a bachelor’s degree in the same major with an average of 11/20.
Students who completed the diploma with an average of 14/20 are entitled to pursue studies in the professional master in the same major, and may request the equivalency of the diploma courses, according to the Faculty Equivalency Law.
- Graduates of other faculties of the Lebanese University or other institutions (in the same major) (with the exception of students of the Department of Psychology):
- The faculty is entitled to accept students wishing to pursue a research or professional master’s degree in all its specializations.
- Graduates of other faculties of the Lebanese University
- Holding a university degree according to the new system (BMD) from the Lebanese University, or an educational degree according to the old system (4 years) with a cumulative average (CGPA) of no less than 12/20 in the appropriate major or the integrated major of the targeted master’s degree;
- Studying the file containing the CV and professional experience by a committee formed of the heads of the departments of specialization and the coordinator of the competent equivalency committee;
- Succeeding the CEE held at the Deanship.
- Graduates of other universities
- Holding a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university and the duly equivalency thereof;
- Obtaining a CGPA of no less than 12/20 in the Bachelor of the relevant specialization for the targeted master’s degree;
- Studying the file containing the CV and professional experience by a committee formed of the heads of the departments of specialization and the coordinator of the competent equivalency committee;
- Succeeding the CEE held at the Deanship.
- Graduates of the FLHS or other faculties of the Lebanese University and graduates of other universities (in the integrated specialization) (with the exception of students of the Department of Psychology):
- Graduates of the FLHS – Lebanese University of the new system (B.M.D.) or the old system (4 years) and graduates of other universities wishing to obtain a research master’s degree, shall be holders of a bachelor’s degree with an average of 12/20;
- Graduates of the FLHS – Lebanese University of the new system (B.M.D.) or the old system (4 years) wishing to obtain a professional master’s degree and graduates of other universities, shall be holders of a bachelor’s degree with an average of 11/20 and 12/20 respectively;
- Studying the file containing the CV and professional experience by a committee formed of the heads of the departments of specialization and the coordinator of the competent equivalency committee;
- Succeeding the CEE held at the Deanship.
The CEE for the master’s degree shall be held at the Deanship of the FLHS.
The CEE includes two exams:
– Exam in General Culture in Arabic Language
– Exam in General Culture in Foreign Language
The duration of each exam is two hours in all faculty specializations.
Students shall pass in case of obtaining an average of 11/20 for both exams. Students obtain an average of less than 11/20 for both exams are accepted according to what is stated in the bylaws.
Non-Arabic speaking foreign students who have not sit for or passed the previously mentioned Arabic Language exam, are subject to a course(s) at the Office of Language Coordination until succeeding and achieving the required level.
