The Doctoral School of Law, Political, Administrative & Economic Sciences (DSLPAES) is now receiving applications to register for a PhD in Law or Political and Administrative Sciences for the top Lebanese students of private universities in Lebanon for the academic year 2021-2022. The students shall be holders of a postgraduate diploma or a research master’s degree in Law or Political and Administrative Sciences, and the major shall be integrated between the bachelor, master and doctoral degrees.
The applicant is required to have a minimum average according to the following details:
- Universities that adopt the American and European system except for France: 70/100 or equivalent
- Universities that adopt the French system M1 + M2: 12.5/20 or equivalent
- Universities that adopt the GPA system: 3.4/4
Students shall be nominated by their universities, and the number of candidates shall not exceed four exclusively for each specialization (Form No. 1).
The period for accepting applications is between 7 September and 6 October 2021 (inclusive), from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm at the DSLPAES Center, Sin El Fil, Nehman Abu Sleiman Building (formerly the Faculty of Dental Medicine).
- A specialized scientific committee will study the files of applicants.
- The list of applicants fulfilling the requirements will be announced on 20 October 2021.
- The participation fee for the Competitive Entrance Exam (CEE) shall be paid no later than 27 October 2021.
- A CEE will be conducted in law and political and administrative sciences, on 2 November 2021 at 10:00 am at the DSLPAES Center.
- The relevant scientific committees will meet to determine the applicants accepted for the second phase, based on the file study and CEE results.
- In the second phase, the initially accepted student is given a period to be determined later to prepare a thesis project to be defended before the specialized scientific committee on a date to be announced later.
- Based on the CEE results, the DSLPAES Dean announces his final approval on the registration of students accepted by the Scientific Committee.
Required documents:
- University candidacy statement as per attached Form 1;
- Printed CV;
- Two certified ID photos;
- Copy of ID;
- Certified copy of high school diploma or its equivalent;
- Certified copy of the Bachelor in the required specialization and an equivalency from the competent authorities (inclusive of the Bachelor transcript of grades);
- Certified copy of the research master’s degree in the specialization and an equivalency from the competent authorities;
- Statement of the general average in the research master’s degree from the university awarding the degree;
- A hard copy and an electronic copy of the research master’s thesis, and a summary thereof in three A4 papers;
- List of the candidate’s published research and publications, if available;
- CEE participation fee of 35,000 LBP;
- Fiscal stamp of 1,000 LBP.
Notes:
- The candidate or his/her representative must personally attend to the DSLPAES to carry out the registration procedures.
- Any act of impersonating a candidate in the registration or submitting a forged certificate, statement or document exposes the person to criminal prosecution.
- The DSLPAES administration does not maintain the files of unaccepted students for more than a month after the results are issued.
- Any special or additional requests or procedures will be announced later, when necessary.
