LCVP 2021: “Deep Learning for Computer Vision with Python Workshop”

The Department of Communications and Computer Networks Engineering- Faculty of Technology (Branch I – Saida) – Lebanese University is organizing an online workshop on Deep Learning (co-sponsored by IEEE Lebanon Section, IEEE Computer Society- Lebanon chapter and IEEE WIE Lebanon).

A virtual Workshop on May 29, 2021 from 8:30 to 15:00 hrs (GMT+3).

At a very basic level, deep learning is a machine learning technique that teaches a computer to filter inputs (observations in the form of images) through layers in order to learn how to predict and classify information. Deep learning methods can achieve state-of-the-art results on challenging computer vision problems such as image classification, object detection, and face recognition.

In this workshop, we will show how image processing and deep learning work through hands-on exercises in computer vision using Open Source Computer Vision (OpenCV), Python and Deep Learning libraries (Tensorflow, Keras). We will train deep learning models from scratch, learning tools and tricks to achieve highly accurate results. This workshop consists of sessions, demos, and practical exercises. Step-by-step tutorial lessons permit to develop deep learning models for computer vision projects.

Workshop Objectives

By participating in this workshop, you will:

  • Understand how deep learning, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are different.
  • Learn the fundamental techniques and tools required to train a deep learning model.
  • Develop multilayer deep neural networks with TensorFlow.
  • Implement deep neural networks for multiclass classification using Keras.
  • Gain experience with common deep learning data types and model architectures.
  • Enhance datasets through data augmentation to improve model accuracy.
  • Leverage transfer learning between models to achieve efficient results with less data and computation.
  • Build confidence to take on your own project with a modern deep learning framework.

The target audience for the workshop is both undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Lebanese University- Faculty of Technology and other universities who are interested in knowing and developing deep learning models for computer vision projects. Participants who will register and successfully complete the workshop will receive a certificate of participation. The participation to the DLCVP 2021 Workshop is free of charge for attendees.
