Christine Walid Tannous, a student at the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture (FFAA) – Branch 2 of the Lebanese University, won the award for best short film at the Cannes International Film Festival (April 2025).
The film “Peony” is Christine’s graduation project. It tells the story of Omar, a young man haunted by the memory of his parents’ drowning, who tries to overcome his fear of water by teaching his little sister to swim, thus transforming his pain into hope.
The film has participated in several international festivals, including:
- The British Students Film Festival in Egypt
- The LIFT-OFF Global Network
