The Centre for Languages and Translation (CLT) of the Faculty of Letters and Human Sciences was founded in 1996 in Mansourieh and relocated to New Rawda in 2000. It is a numerus clausus center and students join in a limited number after succeeding in the Competitive Entrance Exam. In 2020, the French High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES) granted the Faculty of Letters & Human Sciences, including the CLT for Languages & Translation, a certificate of academic accreditation for all its 37 specializations in the bachelor and master's programs. In 2021, the CLT won the membership of the Permanent Conference of University Institutes of Translators and Interpreters (CIUTI), which includes the 50 most important universities that teach translation around the world. The members of the General Assembly at the international conference voted unanimously to accept the membership of the Center, based on its reputation and the high academic and research standards it adopts. CTL grants the following degrees: Bachelor’s Degree: 1. Translation 2. Applied Living Languages – Italian Language 3. Applied Living Languages – Spanish Language 4. Applied Living Languages – Chinese Language Research Master’s Degree: 1. Translation Studies 2. Applied Living Languages – Intercultural Communication: Italian Studies 3. Applied Living Languages – Intercultural Communication: Spanish Studies Professional Master’s Degree: 1. Specialized Translation 2. Interpreting 3. Applied Living Languages – Arabic as Foreign and Applied Language 4. Applied Living Languages – International Commercial Negotiation The student has to pass an entrance exam in Arabic, French and English, to be enrolled in the first year of the BA program. Each BA program is governed by its own specific admission rules.
